2nd School 2019
Very positive feedback followed the second CanTest International School for Cancer Detection Research in Primary Care.
Held in April 2019 at Jesus College, Cambridge, the week-long event, led by CanTest Director of Faculty Dr Fiona Walter, witnessed seasoned academics and upcoming researchers from across the world unite for a week of shared learning, networking and a highly competitive game of rounders!
Supporting CanTest’s vision to increase capacity and sustainability within the field of cancer detection research, the School included a packed timetable of presentations, workshops and networking sessions, led by CanTest senior faculty. There were also invited external speakers including Cancer Research UK’s Sara Hiom and Fiona Reddington, Isabel Orf (Owlstone Medical), Brendan Delaney (Institute of Global Health Innovation, Imperial College, London) and Jason Maude (Isabel Healthcare), plus a fascinating distinguished lecture from stats expert Professor Sir David Spiegelhalter.
“A long week of educational talks was only the beginning; much of the focus of the International School was on forming new collaborations and working relationships to improve the diagnosis of cancer in primary care,” wrote Daniel Jones, capturing the International School from a participant perspective. “It was a brilliant week, in a special location with some excellent researchers. I felt very lucky to be involved.”
