CanTest researchers team-up to raise vital cancer research funds
Over twenty cancer researchers, from 10 academic institutions worldwide, have teamed up to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.
The team of researchers are part of the CanTest international collaborative, funded by Cancer Research UK, which focuses on improving cancer diagnosis in primary care. They have pledged to cover a whopping 586 miles in a week, which is the physical distance between the four main UK CanTest centres (the Universities of Leeds, Cambridge, Exeter and University College London). From the 29th May to the 4th of June 2021, the UK researchers, together with their international collaborators in the Netherlands, Denmark, US and Australia, will be tying their running shoes, donning their walking boots, slipping into their lycra, squeezing into their swimsuits, putting on their skis or grabbing their paddles to run, walk, cycle, swim, cross-country ski or canoe the distance.
Dr Erica di Martino, one of the researchers organising the event, says: “Cancer Research UK, like many other charities, has been hit hard by the covid-19 pandemic and needs our support now more than ever to continue their life-saving mission”.
